玉造幼稚園のサインは、円筒状の輪っかを
「組んだだけ」で、「積んだだけ」で構成されているごく簡潔な造形です。
これらは、これまで三澤デザイン研究室が制作してきた様々なプロジェクトに通底する
「Just by｜だけ しか たった」という考え方から生み出されました。

ただ切るだけで。ただ折るだけで。ただ塗るだけで。ただ止めるだけで。
ただ座るだけで。ただ置くだけで。ただ押すだけで。
そんなささいな行為しかしていないのに、
ものごとの見え方ががらりと変わることがあります。
それはデザインや作品というよりも、そのちょっと手前にある、
まだ固まってないふにゃふにゃした思考の集積のようなもの。
今回のクリエイションギャラリーG8の会場でも、
「だけ」「しか」「たった」を繰り返す中から生まれたものたちを星座のように点在させました。
展示什器も、既存の建築資材である40×30mmの垂木を壁に「留めただけ」。
空間全体を「Just by」の思考でつくりあげることを試みています。

素材はそこらじゅうにあります。
でもそれは、その場所でしか知り得ないこと、
その時間しか見られないもの、二度と出会えないものだったりします。
一瞬をつかまえて、ほんのひと手間を加えてみる。
過剰に手を入れず、そのものが元々持っている可能性を引き出すように。
素材を操作する意識ではなく、素材と遊ぶような感覚で。
すると、小さな気づきの入り口から、思いもよらないほど
自由で広々とした場所にたどり着けることがあります。
ささいなものごとの中にワンダーを見つけることができれば、
世界はどこまでもわくわくとたのしい。

Tamatsukuri Kindergartenʼs signs are deliberately uncomplicated in form,
consisting of cylindrical rings grouped or stacked with a minimum of fuss.
They are very much products of the “just by” concept that
underlies a great many projects carried out
by Misawa Design Institute.

Just by cutting. Just by folding. Just by painting. Just by stopping.
Just by sitting. Just by placing. Just by pushing. Though very simple,
these actions can dramatically change the way things look.
Not so much designs or works of art,
they are more like an aggregation of still nascent and vague ideas.
My exhibition at Creation Gallery G8 also consists of items that emerged from
applying the “just by” concept over and over again,
scattered throughout the gallery space like stars in a constellation.
Even the fixtures are standard 40 x 30 mm wood studs “just fastened” to the wall.
I tried to apply the “just by” concept to the whole space.

You can find materials like these anywhere, but they sometimes exist in a form
that can only be known in that place or seen at that time—a form that
you will never encounter again. If you grab that moment,
and just spend a little time with the material, playing with it in a way
that draws out its intrinsic possibilities rather than consciously manipulating it and
doing anything more than the bare minimum,
you may pass through a tiny window of awareness to find yourself in a place
with unbelievably free and open horizons. Find wonder in trivial things,
and your world will always be exciting and full of fun.
