三澤遥（三澤デザイン研究室）の個展「bit by bit」がミラノ ADI Design Museumにて開幕しました。

「bit by bit」は「微細に、微細に」という営みを表しています。そして2つの「bit」には「微々たるもの」「取るに足らないもの」という存在が重ねられています。
おびただしい量の情報が行き交い、人々の注目を引くための過剰な表現が現れては消えていく今日に、ほとんど見過ごされてしまうほど身近にあるものごとに目を凝らしてみると、いつもとは違う「何か」が見えてくることがあります。それは静かな水面をわずかに乱すさざ波のような差異です。日常に潜んでいる極小の発見をふるえる指先でそっとすくい上げ、ひとつずつ、ひとつずつ、目に見える形にしていく。そんな行為を繰り返してきた三澤遥という日本のデザイナーの仕事の一端に触れていただくのが、「bit by bit」という展覧会です。
今回、題材として取り上げるのも紙や針金、葉っぱなどの身近な素材です。取るに足らない素材たちの奥にどれほどの可能性が眠っているのか。観察を重ね、検証を重ね、時間を重ねることで、「その素材らしからぬ」姿を浮かび上がらせています。
展示台の上に並べられた無数の小さな作品たちを見つめていくうちに、少しずつ気がつくかもしれません。この世界には、見ているのに見えていない世界があるのではないかと。私たちの何気ない日々は、実は発見や驚きに満ちているのではないかと。
「bit by bit」では、これまできっと誰も持ってこなかったはずの、でも誰もが持ちうるはずの視点の数々が待っています。

A solo exhibition by Haruka Misawa (Misawa Design Institute) invites you into her practice at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

“bit by bit” speaks to a way of working little by little, in minute increments. Within the two “bits” lies the sense of things that are imperceptible, seemingly insignificant, or easily overlooked.
In a time when an overwhelming volume of information circulates ceaselessly, and extravagant expressions compete for attention only to vanish just as quickly, there are moments when looking closely at the things nearest to us — the things most likely to go unnoticed — reveals something unfamiliar. It appears as something scarcely perceptible, a difference so slight as a ripple barely disturbing a still surface. Haruka Misawa has devoted herself to this kind of practice: gathering the infinitesimal discoveries in ordinary context with the utmost delicacy, and giving them visible form, one by one. The exhibition bit by bit offers a glimpse into this quiet pursuit.
The materials at the center of this exhibition are equally unassuming — paper, wire, leaves. Yet through observation upon observation, experiment upon experiment, Misawa draws out a nature entirely unlike their own.
Looking closely at the countless constellation of works, one may gradually begin to notice that there are aspects of the world that remain unseen even as we look at it. What appears to be the most ordinary of days may in fact hold quiet moments of discovery and wonder.
Perspectives that no one may have brought here before — and yet perspectives that anyone might come to hold. In bit by bit, one may encounter them anew.
